My Story

Lorraine Livingstone
After coming into contact with her first yoga experience, Lorraine felt like her world had changed for the better. It was the beginning of a new journey, learning to respect the spiritual aspect of her well-being as well as the physical. Lorraine started to practice yoga 2-3 times a week noticing how it calmed her mind, gave focus and made her appreciate the smaller things, while strengthening her body and improving flexibility.

Whilst travelling the world in 2015, a chance encounter with a fellow backpacker led Lorraine to complete her 200-hour Yoga teacher training in India with Rishikesh Yog Peeth Teacher training school. Lorraine's time in India and her yoga training changed her in ways she could never have imagined.

Lorraine describes the benefits of a daily asana and meditation practice as incredible, improving both her physical and mental wellbeing. This new outlook on life also gave her the confidence to leave a long career in corporate finance.

Lorraine has continued to further her studies in yoga and in April 2017 completed 50 Hours Yin Yoga teacher training with Sarah Lo, who has been endorsed by Sarah Powers. In May 2019 Lorraine went back to India to complete her 300-hour Advanced Yoga Teacher Training in Vinyasa Flow and Yin Yoga with Trimurti teacher training school. The training focused on Elemental yoga according to the 5 Elements in both Ayurveda and Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM).

Lorraine teaches many styles of yoga therefore her classes are accessible to everyone, regardless of age, ability or background. Her Vinyasa classes are woven with theme and intention, to inspire and transform. They are creative and intelligently sequenced, blending together mindful movement that is strengthening, dynamic, and fun. Yin Classes place a strong focus on meridian
theory and mindfulness.

As Lorraine is also a trained massage therapist, massage balls are often used in class to further aid myofascial release and stimulate acupressure points. Lorraine believes in a functional approach to yoga, therefore although alignment direction is provided in all classes; she encourages students to listen to their bodies and do what they feel is appropriate and safe.
